     John Chipman was born in 1620 at Bryan's Piddle, Dorsetshire, Dorsetshire, England; Marriage record states 1614.2,4,5,6 He was the son of Thomas Chipman and Mrs Thomas Chipman (?).2,3 John Chipman immigrated in May 1631 to Friendship; Barnstable, Devon, England to Boston on the ship Friendship. Arrived in Boston July 14, 1631.2,3 He was court - civil on 2 March 1642; Brought suit against his cousin, John Derby, to reover money which he affirmed John Derby unjustly withheld from him. The result of this suit is unknown.3 He married Hope Howland, daughter of John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley, in 1646 at MA, USA.7,8,9,10 John Chipman was church member on 30 January 1652 at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA.1,3 He was appointed on 14 April 1670; Church Elder.3 He married Ruth Sargent, daughter of William Sargent, in 1684.3 John Chipman left a will on 12 November 1702; Mentions his "wife Ruth", his children and grandchildren Mary Gale and Jabex Dimock. Also, mentions his friend Rev Jonathan Russell of Barnstable.3 He died on 7 April 1708 at Sandwich, Barnstable, MA, USA. He died at his youngest son's or at his second wife's house.11,6 His estate was probated on 17 May 1708; Will proved.3

Thomas Chipman1

     Thomas Chipman was born in 1567 at Whitechurch, England; Near Dorchester.2 He married Mrs Thomas Chipman (?) in 1590.2 Yielded an income of £50 per anum. (per year).

In 1775, Thomas Chipman of Salisbury Conn, caused inquiries to be made by Silas Dean or benjamin Franklin, colonial agents in England, in regard to the estate, and ascertained that it lay as above described and that the rental was £500. He was prevented from prosecuting his claim by the breakout of the Revolution and its consequences.3,2 Thomas Chipman died in 1623 at Bryan's Piddle, Dorsetshire, Dorsetshire, England.3

     John Howland was born circa 1599 at Fenstanton, Huntington, Huntington, England; Pilgrim Migration states about 1592.3,2 He was the son of Henry Howland and Margaret (?).2 Signer of the Compact on the Mayflower in 1620.4 John Howland immigrated in 1620 to Mayflower; He came on the Mayflower in 1620 as a manservant for Governor John Carver. During the Mayflower's voyage, Howland fell overboard during a storm, and was almost lost at sea - but luckily for his millons of descendants living today (including Presidents George Bush and George W Bush, and Mrs Theodore Roosevelt) he managed to grab ahold of the topsail halyards, giving the crew enough time to rescue him with a boathook.2 He married Elizabeth Tilley, daughter of John Tilley and Joan Hurst, circa 1625 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA.3,1,2 John Howland was freeman in 1633 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA.3 He was appointed in 1633 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA; Appointed as an assistant to Governor Edward Winslow.5 Command of Kennebec Trading Post in 1634.4 He was appointed in 1634 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA; Appointed assistant to Governor Thomas Prince.5 He was appointed in 1635 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA; Appointed assistant to Governor William Bradford.5 He died on 23 February 1672 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA. Mayflower History states 24 Feb 1672/73 at Rocky Nook, Kingston.3,2,6 He left a will on 29 May 1672; The Last Will and Testament of mr John howland of Plymouth late Deceased, exhibited to the Court held att Plymouth the fift Day of March Anno Dom 1672 on the oathes of mr Samuell ffuller and mr William Crow as followeth
