Capt Daniel Scribner was born on 7 April 1718 at Exeter, Rockingham, NH, USA. He married Elizabeth Taylor, daughter of Joseph Taylor and Elizabeth Jacobs, on 3 December 1767 at Wells, York, ME, USA. Capt Daniel Scribner was war at Revolutionary War; In a NH Regiment. His widow did not get a pension although there was talk about a pension. He moved between 1794 and 1795 to Otisfield, Cumberland, ME, USA. He died in October 1802 at Otisfield, Cumberland, ME, USA, at age 84. The reports concerning his death are conflicting, one is that he fell upon the fire in a state of intoxication, another that his clothing took fire from his pipe, and another that he was purposely thrown upon the fire to get him out of the way.
The last story is as follows: "One year when Stevens Rich was on the the Selectmen(1845), there was a meeting of the selectmen at his house and a Mr. Kimball wanted help from the town. Kimball was not a resident of Otisfield and the selectmen thought the town ought not to be burdened with his support. They talked as though Kimball was the man who threw Scribner into the fire, that Kimball owed Scribner money, that he went into Scribners camp, that Scribner asked him for money, and that he pitched Scribner into the fire and he was burned to death, and that Kimball then left town and had been absent for 40 years." This is Miss Martha Sawyer's statement who was visiting Stevens Rich and heard the conversation. He was buried in October 1802 at Scribner Hill, Lower Yard Cemetery, Otisfield, Cumberland, ME, USA.

Deacon Henry Cobb was born between 1596 and 1607 at Kent, England; Great migration states abt 1607
Cobb Gedcom states 1596. He married Patience Hurst, daughter of James Hurst, in April 1631. Deacon Henry Cobb immigrated in 1632 to Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA. He was freeman on 1 January 1632/33 at Plymouth, Plymouth, MA, USA. He moved in 1634 to Scituate, Plymouth, MA, USA. He was church member on 8 January 1634/35 at Scituate, Plymouth, MA, USA. He was appointed on 15 December 1635 at Deacon; Henry Cobb was a right hand man to his pastor. He served in the capacity of deacon for nearly 35 years and was then elevated to the office of ruling elder on April 14, 1670. In this position he continued till his death. He was what we picture the type of puritan, devoted to the church very completely.
From (Barnstable Families, Otis) - Elder Cobb was not a man of brillant talents. He was a useful man and an exemplary Christian. With perhaps one exception his life was a living illustration of his political and religious opinions. When in 1657, mainly through the influence of men in the Massachusetts colony, a spirit of intolerance spread through the Plymouth Colony, and laws were enacted that an enlightened common sense condems, and which were in violation of the principles of religious liberty which the fathers had held sacred. Elder Cobb was one of the deputies to the General Court and there is no evidence to show that he did not approve of their enactment. In so doing, he violated principles which he had long cherished and held sacred. It would have been better for his reputation had he, like his friends Smith, Cudworth and Robinson and nearly all the "first comers" then living, protested against these intolerant measures, and like them retired to private life with clear consciences and an unspotted reputation.
Four years were sufficient to sweep away every vestige of the ganatical and intolerant spirit which had spread over the Old Colony. How could it be otherwise? How could men who had themselves suffered persecution, imprisonment and stripes for conscience sake, and who had through life stoutly maintained that God alone was the judge of men's consciences, how could they, when the excirement had passed away, believe it right to persecute Baptists and Quakers and wrong to persecute Puritans? The absurdity of such a course forced itself upon the mnds of such men as Elder Cobb and soon wrought a complete change in public opinion. He moved in 1639 to Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. He was elected in 1644. In the government of his town and Colony, Henry Cobb took a modest, yey not unimportant part. For many years he represented Barnstable at the General Court at Plymouth.
1644 - he was associated with Anthony Annable and Henry Bourne
1645 - with Thomas Hinkley, who afterwards became his brother-in-law and governor of the Colony
1646 - fined for non-apperance at the Court "Defects in Apparence this Court by the Matrates and Comittees, Henry Cobb v j d"
1647 - with Anythony Annable
1652 - with Nathaniel Bacon
1659 to 1662 - Deputy
1664 - Officer of Excise
From the above we can see that he occupied an honorable position as one of the Colony's lawmakers. He was also for many years of the the three Selectmen of the town of Barnstable. He also served many times on "the Grand Enquist" as a juror. There can be no question that he was a man of standing and importance, valued and respected by his associates. He was at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. Tavernkeeper.
Licensed to draw wine. He married Sarah Hinkley, daughter of Samuel Hinkley and Sarah Soole, on 12 December 1649 at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. Deacon Henry Cobb left a will on 4 April 1678 at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. Though "weak in body", bequeather to "my son James Cobb" my great lot in Barnstable; to "my sons John, James, Gershom, and Eliezer" half my lands at Suconeesett equally divided between them "and 40s. being in the hand of my son James for my son Eliezer's part"; so "Sarah my dear and loving wife during her natural life" "my new dwelling house and the rest of my lands; at Sarah's decease, to "my son Samuel" my dwelling house and two acres of upland, and an acre and a half of my marsh which I bought with his stock in partnership with my son James; so "my sons Samuel, Jonathan and Henry" residue of lands equally; to "my sons John Gershom and Eliezer" one shilling each; to "my daughters Mary, Hannah and Patience" one shilling each; to "my daughter Sarah" my second best bed and furniture; residue to Sarah "my loving wife and sole executrix". He was buried at Lothrop Hill, Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. He died between 22 February 1679 and 3 June 1679 at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA. He wrote a codicil on 22 February 1678/79 at Barnstable, Barnstable, MA, USA; "my son Samuel" shall have only two acres of my upland after my wife's decease and all the rest of my lands equally divided between my "three sons Samuel, Jonathan and Henry"; Henry to have my house after my wife's decease and his part of the land to lie most convenient to the house, only my lands at the Island equally divided between my three sone; "my son James to dry thatch on half an acre of the Island when the English corn is taken off." His estate was probated on 3 June 1679.
