     John Kimball was born on 14 October 1675 at Bradford, Essex, Massachusetts. He died.

     Richard Kimball was born in 1595 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. He married Ursula Scott, daughter of Henry Scott and Martha Whatlock, by 1614 at St Nicholas Church, Rattlesden, Suffolk. Richard Kimball married Margaret Cole on 23 October 1661. Richard Kimball died on 22 June 1675 at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts. His estate was probated on 12 July 1675; Inventory taken. totaled £737 3s. 6d. of which £557 was real estate.

A Short History of the Kemball/Kimballs in New England

The following article is not based on personal research, except for the more recent generations inNew Hampshire and Vermont. I have a short list of publications at the end to document where thebulk of the information came from. Some of the information may have been updated by Kimballdescendants (or may be known to you, but not to me at this writing).
There are two main Kemball/Kimball immigrant ancestors: Henry and Richard. They both came fromEngland on the ship 'Elizabeth' in Apr 1634, and, because ofthis, are presumed to be brothers. Inaddition, both settled in Watertown, MA. Henry's branch kept the spelling of Kemball, whileRichard's changed to Kimball.
Richard is my ancestor coming from Rattesden, Suffolk, England, where he was born about 1595. Hemarried Ursula Scott and they had 8 children, 7 of whom are listed on the ship with them Richardand Ursula first settled in Watertown, then removed to Ipswich, MA in 1637 at the urging of thetown who had a need for Richard's skills as a wheelwright. The Kimballs had three more childrenbefore Ursula's death abt 1661.
The Kimball men were very active in the founding of early New England towns and politics, oftenbecoming proprietors; surveyors, constables and town overseers, while the women were busy raisinglarge families of 10-14 children! Not only did they cook and clean-they baked the bread, grew thevegetables, made their own soap, and spun the yarn to make the clothes. Hard for us today toimagine doing all that with 11 or 12 kids around!
For three generations, Richard's descendants remained in Massachusetts, then moved northwest intothe uncharted lands of New Hampshire, settling first in Hopkinton and Warner in Grafton County.Reuben Kimball (1738-1811) and his father-in-law Daniel Annis, were the first settlers in Warner,NH, a wilderness at that time. Reuben's son Daniel was the first white child born there. Daniellater removed to Canaan, NH, and his son Jesse removed north to Enfield, NH. Jesse's son DustinKimball took the family into northern Vermont to Caledonia County, where his daughter married aStoddard.

From the Great Migration: On 30 April 1634, 'Richard Kemball,' aged39, and 'Ursala his wife', aged[blank], took the oath of allegiance at Ipswich for passage to New England on the Elizabeth, withsix children in his care' Henry Kemball', aged 15. 'Richard Kemball', aged 11, 'Maru Lemball', aged9, 'Martha Kemball', aged 5, 'John Kemball', aged 3, and 'Thomas Kemball', aged 1
Elizabeth. He left a will on 5 March 1675; Bequeathed to his wife, eldest son Henry, sons Richard, John, Thomas, Benjamin and Caleb,son-in-law John Stevens, daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah. Also bequeaths to 'my wife's children,viz: Thomas, Jerimiah and Mary.'

     Ursula Scott was born in 1597 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. She was christened on 14 February 1597 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. She married Richard Kimball, son of Henry Kimball and Johan (?), by 1614 at St Nicholas Church, Rattlesden, Suffolk. Ursula Scott died in 1667 at New England.

     Henry Scott married Martha Whatlock on 25 July 1594 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. Henry Scott died on 24 December 1624 at Rattlesden, Suffolk.
     He left a will on 24 September 1623; bequeaths to grandchildren 'Abigail Kembell', 'Henry Kemball', Elizabeth and Richard Kemball.'

     Martha Whatlock married Henry Scott on 25 July 1594 at Rattlesden, Suffolk.

     Abigail Kimball was born on 5 November 1617. She died.
     Her married name was Severance.

     Alexander Kimball was born on 20 February 1614 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He was christened on 20 February 1614 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He died.

     Henry Kimball was born on 12 August 1615 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. He was christened on 12 August 1615 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. He married Mary Riddlesdale before 1641. Henry Kimball married Elizabeth Black before 1675. Henry Kimball died in 1676.

     Ursula Kimball was born in 1619. She died.

     Elizabeth Kimball was born in 1621 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. She was christened in 1623 at Rattlesden, Suffolk. She died.
     She immigrated on 20 April 1634 to Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts; In the passenger List of the Elizabeth of Ipswich on 30 April 1634, Elizabeth Kimball, aged 13, isincluded in the list of children dependent on THURSTON RAYNER. The age is right for the daughterof that name of Richard Kimball, named inher father's will and in the 1623 will of her grandfatherHenry Scott. She may well have been put out as a servant to the family of Thurston Rayner, whichmay in turn indicate that the two families were connected in some way prior to 1634.

     Richard Kimball was born in 1623. He married Mary (?). Richard Kimball married Mary Morris after 2 September 1672. Richard Kimball died.

     John Kimball was born in 1631. He married Mary Jordan, daughter of Francis Jordan and Jane Wilson, on 8 October 1666 at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts. John Kimball died on 6 May 1698.

     Sarah Kimball was born in 1639. She died.

     Benjamin Kimball was born in 1637. He married Mercy Haseltine on 16 April 1661. Benjamin Kimball died on 11 June 1696 at Bradford, Essex, Massachusetts.

     Caleb Kimball was born in 1635. He married Anna Hazelton on 7 November 1660. Caleb Kimball died.

     Henry Kimball was born on 4 January 1565 at Brettenham, Suffolk. He married Johan (?). Henry Kimball died on 10 September 1619 at Rattlesden, Suffolk, at age 54.

     Johan (?) married Henry Kimball, son of Henry Kimball and Margaret Munning.
     Her married name was Kimball.

     Henry Kemball was born in 1590 at England. He married Susan Stone on 27 November 1628 at Great Bromley, Essex. Henry Kemball died by 22 july 1648.
     He (Research):'Bond says he is a brother of Richard though others have doubted this claim. He was onthe 'Elizabeth' with the rest of the Kimballs.'

     Henry Kimball was born in 1539 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He married Margaret Munning, daughter of Humphrey Munning and Ellen Ungle, on 12 June 1564 at Brettenham, Suffolk. Henry Kimball died.

     Margaret Munning was born in 1545 at Brettenham, Suffolk. She married Henry Kimball, son of Henry Kimball and Cecelia Sysley, on 12 June 1564 at Brettenham, Suffolk. Margaret Munning died.
     Her married name was Kimball.

     Humphrey Munning married Ellen Ungle.

     Ellen Ungle married Humphrey Munning.
     Her married name was Munning.

     Henry Kimball was born in 1510. He married Cecelia Sysley on 4 June 1538 at Hitcham, Suffolk. Henry Kimball died on 4 January 1558.

     Cecelia Sysley was born circa 1517 at Hitcham, Suffolk. She married Henry Kimball, son of Henry Kimball and Marion (?), on 4 June 1538 at Hitcham, Suffolk. Cecelia Sysley died in 1582 at Hitcham, Suffolk.
     Her married name was Kimball.

     Henry Kimball was born in 1466 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He married Marion (?). Henry Kimball died on 15 October 1526 at Hitcham, Suffolk.

     Marion (?) married Henry Kimball, son of John Kembold.
     Her married name was Kimball.

     John Kembold was born circa 1428 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He married an unknown person. He died before 16 March 1472 at London.

     Thomas Kimball was born in 1396 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He married an unknown person. He died before 28 November 1452 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He died on 28 November 1453.

     Thomas Kimball was born in 1370 at Hitcham, Suffolk. He married an unknown person. He died on 5 November 1453.

     Mary Dickinson was born on 14 November 1675 at Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts. She married Joseph Andrew, son of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 13 March 1696. Mary Dickinson died on 25 February 1700 at age 24.
     Her married name was Andrew.

     Abigail Trafton married (?) Walker. Abigail Trafton married Joseph Andrew, son of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 2 November 1704.
     Her married name was Andrew. Her married name was Walker.

     Robert Andrews was born in 1609 at Boxford, Berkshire. He was christened at Boxford, Berkshire. He married Grace Melburn in 1637 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts. Robert Andrews died on 29 May 1668 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.
     He (Research):From Porter: Robert Andrews lived in what is now Boxford, but so near the Topsfield line, that he was alwaysidentified with the Topsfield people. 1661, he bought 200 acres of land on the west side of PyeBrook, and on it, built his first house, which was destroyed. He built a second one which hebequeathed to he eldest son. He also bought land on Fish Brook, and in Rowley Village, and inTopsfield. He was a famer and carpenter. His will is much defaced by time, and is preserved between sheets of silk tissue. In it hegives his eldest sone, Thomas, the homestead and the land bought from Zaccheus Gould; son Robert,eight score acres of land; John, the Seller Lott; Joseph, the land in Topsfield, bought of JohnWild's son; and he mentions his daughters Mary, wife of Isaac Cummings; Elizabeth, wife of Symonds;Hannah, wife of John Peabody; and his unmarried daughters, Rebekah, Sara, and Ruth.

     Grace Melburn was born in 1617 at Boxford, Berkshire. She married Robert Andrews in 1637 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts. Grace Melburn died on 25 December 1700 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts. She was buried after 25 December 1700 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.
     Her married name was Andrews.

     Florence Collins was born circa 1890 at Dallas Plantation, Franklin, Maine. She married Walter Elra Anderson, son of Jack Anderson and Nellie Flora Church, on 20 April 1916 at Dallas Plantation, Franklin, Maine. Florence Collins died.
     Her married name was Anderson.

     Thomas Andrews was born on 15 October 1641 at Boxford, Berkshire. He married Rebecca (?). Thomas Andrews married Martha Baker on 22 June 1670 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts. Thomas Andrews died on 1 April 1724 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts, at age 82.

     Rebecca (?) was born circa 1654 at Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts. She married Thomas Andrews, son of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn. Rebecca (?) married Samuel warble on 26 November 1675 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts. Rebecca (?) died in 1718.
     Her married name was warble. Her married name was Andrews.

     Martha Baker married Thomas Andrews, son of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 22 June 1670 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.
     Her married name was Andrews.

     Hannah Andrews was born in 1642 at Boxford, Berkshire. She married John Peabody, son of Francis Peabody and Mary Foster, on 23 November 1665 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts. Hannah Andrews died on 25 December 1700 or 1701. She died on 4 December 1702 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts.
     Her married name was Peabody.

     Elizabeth Andrews was born in 1643 at Boxford, Berkshire. She married Samuel Symonds on 14 April 1662 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts. Elizabeth Andrews died on 17 March 1725 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts. She was buried after 17 March 1725 at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts.
     Her married name was Symonds.

     Samuel Symonds married Elizabeth Andrews, daughter of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 14 April 1662 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts.

     John Andrews was born in 1648 at Boxford, Berkshire. He married Sarah Dickinson on 13 April 1684 at Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts. John Andrews died in 1724 at Boxford, Essex, Massachusetts. He died in 1731.

     Sarah Dickinson married John Andrews, son of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 13 April 1684 at Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts.
     Her married name was Andrews.

     Robert Andrews was born in 1651 at Boxford, Berkshire. He died on 19 December 1675 at Narrangansett.

     (?) Dickey was born on 4 February 1883 at Stratford, Coos, New Hampshire. He died.

     Samuel warble married Rebecca (?) on 26 November 1675 at Andover, Essex, Massachusetts.

     Her married name was Phelps.

     Edward Phelps married Ruth Andrews, daughter of Robert Andrews and Grace Melburn, on 19 March 1683 at Lancaster, Worcester, Massachusetts.
